Conquer the Digital Job Hunting Landscape!

In the past, applications involved venturing door-to-door which made it relatively exhausting and time-consuming. It was understandably stressful and frustrating.

Fast forward to the present digital era, job hunting is made easier and more accessible—a mouse-click affair and a matter of positioning oneself in the right digital job market because each one offers its own set of advantages.

With that, allow me to walk you through sites you might want to consider marketing yourself when looking for a job. Are you ready?

  1. Google – Google offers the most similar way to going door-to-door in a digital manner. Like building a virtual office, nearly all companies now invest in creating a website of their own where they showcase their services, work culture (a little sneak peak I’d say on what to expect in their environment) and vacancies. So, you might want to consider using this search engine for opportunities if you prefer a narrowed down method.

  2. Jobstreet – Whether you are a fresh graduate or a professional seeking greener pasture in the great wide career landscape, this hiring site is for you because it offers a wide range of employment opportunities. The extensiveness of the job listings can be overwhelming sometimes, but the good thing is that you can use filters in your search to ensure the jobs you discover align to what you’re looking for. What makes it a one-stop shop for your applications though is that it also offers career-related resources—offering insights about salaries and work-life balance among others.

  3. LinkedIn – Did you know that LinkedIn is now recognized as the world’s biggest professional networking site? Just like Facebook, it can also be utilized to connect with others—allowing you to establish potentially career-beneficial links. If you also want to showcase all your skills, credentials and achievements from highschool to college, well, you’re in the right place. Through this, recruiters like me can easily track you and thus, increase your chance of getting hired.

  4. Facebook – Who doesn’t have an account on Facebook yet? Other than a means to connect with your friends and families, it can also be a way to land your dream career through following career pages and joining groups. Perhaps the one of the most user-friendly platforms out there, it offers different unique features and is accessible anytime, anywhere. Even while you're commuting or running your errands, simply scrolling through your feed could potentially lead you to your next job!

With the rise of social media and other online platforms, job seekers like you are empowered with an immense wealth of resources at the tips of your fingers (literally 😉).

As Thomas Edison said, There is a way to do it better – find it.”
