Hiring Has Evolved, So Should You

Job applicant on a video call

Virtual interviews have become a necessity when face-to-face interviews cannot take place because of the pandemic. The team was able to smoothly transition the hiring process virtually from sourcing to job offer.

May it be traditional or online, the thought of being evaluated and assessed can still be nerve wracking to most but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

Here are a few tips that will help you ace your next virtual interview:

  1. Know the details - Take note of the date and time of your interview. Make a research on the job requirements of the role that you are applying for and the company background.

  2. Location and Technology - Be in an area where the internet connection is stable. It will also help to be in a well-lit and clean background. If you are not familiar with the application/software that will be used during the interview, a practice would be helpful. Do a test call to familiarize yourself in using the application, it will also help you check if your camera and microphone are working.

  3. Review your CV - Whether online or face to face, knowing the contents of your CV is a must. The interview questions will revolve and focus on the information written on your CV, you should know it by heart and make sure that it's error free.

  4. Dress for Success - You might be sitting on your bed or beside your pet but prepare as though you're preparing for a face-to-face interview. It is also a good way to boost your confidence and make a better impression.

  5. Practice, Don't Memorize - It’s easy to tell if you aren’t being genuine, so it's a good idea to run through a few practice rounds with a friend or family member. You don’t want to sound robotic throughout your interview.

  6. Be Authentic - The most important part of our interviews is to check if an applicant would be a good fit to our company's culture. While it might be hard to show your authenticity virtually, do your best in expressing your thoughts and elaborating your answers.

Take into action these tips I’ve shared and you’ll definitely have your edge from the rest of the applicants. Good luck and hopefully we could meet you.
