The job search starts with your application, but what happens after you hit “submit”?
We get it! Applying can feel like sending a message into the void sometimes. After all, not knowing what’s going on behind the scenes can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re excited about the opportunity.
So, to help you move forward with confidence and clarity, we’re breaking down the crucial stages of the hiring process at Frontline Accounting – starting with the very first step: Application & Screening
Whether you're starting your job search or working on improving your approach, we’ll give you a brief idea on what to expect, why this step matters, and how you can stand out.
Let’s dive in!
What It Is & Why It Matters
This stage is the first official step of the hiring process. You can think of it as your first handshake with us – although a digital one.
We, recruiters, review and assess every application that comes in based on employment background and skills. This is your first opportunity to leave a great impression because it’s where we determine if you’re a potential fit for the role.
Why It Can Take Time
We know waiting can feel like forever, but here’s the thing: we want to give every application the attention it deserves for a fair review.
Sometimes, there's only a handful of CVs to go through, but more often than not, it’s hundreds. Behind the scenes, we’re carefully aligning experience with job requirements, making sure we’re giving everyone a fair shot. After all, it’s not about winning a race but about doing it right.
So, if it’s been a few days (or more), don’t panic! Hold on tight because we see you, and we’re working through it 😊
What We Look For
When reviewing applications, we’re not just skimming for keywords because it's not just about ticking boxes – it’s about getting a sense of your story and seeing how it lines up with what we’re looking for.
So, to give you an idea, here’s what usually catches our attention:
Relevant Skills and Experience: Does your background match the job description? We’re looking for indicators that you’ll thrive in the position.
Clarity and Format: Is your CV easy to read and well-organized? This makes it easier for us to see your strengths.
Tailored Content: Generic applications are easy to spot, and they tend to blend in with the rest of the pile. So, did you customize your CV to highlight the most relevant parts of your experience for the role you applied for?
As mentioned, your application is your first handshake with us. So, make it count by showing not just what you’ve done, but why you’re the right fit. Make your CV stand out!
What Happens Next
We won’t leave you hanging. That’s a promise!
At Frontline Accounting, we make sure every applicant hears from us – absolutely no ghosting here! Right after you hit submit, we usually send an acknowledgment email to let you know we’ve received your application.
Then, once we’ve had the chance to review it, we’ll follow up with an update. If your background aligns with the role, we’ll invite you to the next stage: the Initial Interview 🎉
And if it’s not the right match this time, you’ll still hear from us! We’ll let you know and encourage you to keep an eye out for future roles because the right opportunity might just be around the corner.
The Application & Screening stage might feel like quite a stretch in your job search, but it’s actually where a lot of important work happens – both for you and for us.
By understanding the process and knowing what we're looking for, you’re already a step ahead in submitting an application that gets noticed! Frontline Accounting Recruitment Team
